The Pet Poison Hotline has released the top 10 dog poisons for 2024, based on actual calls from people with dogs. A neurotoxic chemical used to kill rodents has moved higher up the list, as has carprofen (Rimadyl), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to quell pain from arthritis and other canine conditions associated with inflammation. There’s nothing wrong with the medication. Carprofen toxicity resulted from accidental overdoses or the wrong dog being given the drug.
